What we stand for and why

Our Mission:
We are committed to growing vibrant followers of Jesus Christ.

Our Vision:
By God's grace and power, we will:
• Extend Jesus’ love, acceptance and forgiveness from the corner of Chadwick and Oropi Roads to the ends of the earth.
 • Display the diversity of Christ’s Kingdom as He shapes our people into the family of God.
 • Grow in faith and love as God’s family through positive, respectful and inter-generational relationships.
 • Build a ‘home’ on this corner to serve our community and growing church family.

Our Values:
• Worship
Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together (Psalm 34:3)
God’s creation reflects His glory. We worship Him with praise and thanksgiving!
• Belonging
By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another (John 13:35)
God’s people are family. We share our lives together in faith!
• Reaching Out
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
God’s heart aches for lost people. We pursue them with His love!
• Growing
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16).
God’s Word shapes us like Jesus. We embrace His teaching in hope!
• Serving
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:3-5).
God’s Son Jesus humbly served. We serve each other and others with joy and humility!

Our Commitments:
These are non negotiable values of GBC. They are what we aspire to, hold onto and will not compromise. We endeavour to build these into the lives of those who choose to make GBC their home.

• The Sovereignty of God - the absolute sovereignty of God our Father
He alone is the centre of the universe, its creator and sustainer and
the one we choose to glorify and worship giving Him our total allegiance. He is our Father and invites us into a dynamic living relationship with Him
• The Centrality of Christ – the Lordship of Jesus Christ
Jesus as God’s Son paid the ultimate price in order that we can be forgiven from punishment for sin and live in right relationship with Him. We then have become His disciples and our goal is for Him to guide our lives and enable us to remember and serve Him in our daily walk and endeavour to make Him known to others.
• The Empowerment of the Holy Spirit
It is He who fills and endows every follower of Jesus with gifts that will enable the church to achieve its mission. These gifts are recognised and utilised in the team concept which Jesus Himself fostered while here on earth.
• The Authority of Scripture - the timeless word of God
The Scriptures are our authority for all we do. We teach them without reserve or apology and seek to uphold their principle in all that we do.
• Dependence on Prayer - prayer as an expression of our dependence upon God
By prayer we express our praise and worship to God with thanksgiving and make known our requests with confidence that He hears all our words and will answer appropriately in His good will.
• Evangelical Outlook - a global outlook to mission which begins at home
God is a mission God, and His desire is for all mankind to come into His kingdom. Every living person is important to Him. He made them and invites them into His kingdom. It is our duty to share the message of the Gospel here in Greerton as well as encouraging and supporting those in other parts of New Zealand and overseas.
• Pastoral Care - people are important in the family of God
It is our desire to serve our fellow believers without bias or reserve and regardless of background, baggage, race or colour. We seek to encourage one another by being together as a body of Christ and we encourage every member to be in a Life Group where they can be nurtured and cared for and encouraged to grow as effective disciples of Jesus Christ.
• Plural Leadership - leadership as expressed in the plurality of Eldership
God has entrusted church leadership into the hands of a group of Godly men who are responsible to shepherd and guide His people.

Where To From Here

 • We as Elders want to make it very clear that these are just ‘concepts’ once our ideas go to an Architect the plans that they produce may be vesy different.
• The great thing about these ‘concepts’ is that it gives us options to move fotward without the need to purchase additional land. This does not mean that we won’t purchase surrounding land when it (and finances) becomes available. However it does mean that we are not ‘in limbo’ waiting for something to happen. We can continue to grow.
• We as Elders see the immediate need for a larger Auditorium initially.
These ‘concepts’ are designed in such a way that any of the following
can be done as a separate project. This is great as it allows projects to
be done in order of priority and available funds.
- Activity Centre
- Playground,
- Lounge
- Foyer
• Car parking
• Talk about the plans with your family, life group etc.
• In June we plan to pass our concepts and suggestions for the first stage to the architect. Future stages will be reviewed, finalised and plans drawn when needs, finance and priority are appropriate at a later date.
• When we receive tile plans from them we will then organise another meeting to bring everyone up to speed.
• As you spend time looking at and praying about the whole building plan, constantly ask yourself what do you (your ministry, family etc) want to see happen at GBC in the years to come. In your conversations with God about this ask Him to make it clear and to give you an excitement about the future that only He could give you.
• Please take time to discuss, think and pray through these concepts.
